Help shape the future of our community We're seeking a detail-oriented, service-driven Building Inspector to join our Community Development team.
As a Building Inspector, you'll review residential and commercial projects for compliance with building codes and local ordinances, conduct on-site inspections, and collaborate with contractors, developers, and residents to keep projects moving smoothly.
Recruitment information:
The first review of applications will be Monday, March 9, 2026 at 5:00 pm.
Default schedule will be the following: 5/8's Mon-Fri 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Please note:
No telecommuting available - this is a field position
What will you do in this position?
Inspects residential buildings and structures, built or altered, to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
Review construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to verify compliance prior to permit approval.
Issue correction notices, stop-work orders, and citations for code violations; re-inspect to verify corrective actions.
Researches and studies State and local building, plumbing, and mechanical codes and standards.
Provides clear guidance and technical expertise to contractors, architects, property owners, and the public
A Successful Candidate In This Position Will
Show highly analytical and complex problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work, and adapt to shifting priorities.
Have knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply, building codes and construction practices.
Identify issues quickly, apply logical analysis, and develop effective solutions using data and sound judgment.
Deliver reliable, high-quality work that positively impacts residents and colleagues.
