    Job DescriptionMinimum 1+ years orientation and mobility specialist experience required.

    Job Title: Orientation Mobility Specialist
    Job Type: Full Time hours per week
    Caseload: K-12th grade

    The Orientation and Mobility Specialist plays a crucial role in providing specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, teaching them the skills they need to navigate their environments safely and independently.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assess students' orientation and mobility needs through observation and evaluation
    • Develop individualized orientation and mobility training plans based on students' strengths, needs, and goals
    • Teach students orientation skills such as spatial awareness, environmental concepts, and directional skills
    • Instruct students in mobility skills including cane techniques, travel safety, and route planning
    • Collaborate with other members of the educational team, including teachers, therapists, and parents, to support students' overall development

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or master's degree in Orientation and Mobility or a related field.
    • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) from a recognized accrediting body.
    • Active PA clearances.
    • Multiple students / Multiple locations Travel between sites required.
