    We are looking for engineers who want to work in a multi-disciplinary team that plays a key role in supporting national defense through ground testing of air and space systems.


    While these positions have some office work involved, the majority of the engineer's time is spent in the field or plant area working with our skilled craft workforce.

    This work involves practical application of engineering principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, hydraulics, pneumatics, and materials of construction.

    These principles are applied through the use of engineering tools including generating risk assessments, work instructions, and other engineering documentation in support of testing.

    These positions may require some amount of shift work to support testing as test load demands.


    As part of a multi-disciplinary team, system engineers interface with other teams across the complex including controls, instrumentation, design, facility data analysis, and modeling and simulation engineers to ensure reliable operation and ability to meet future test needs.


    They perform as part of a cadre of mechanical and electrical engineers whose job it is to oversee installation, operation, sustainment, and troubleshooting of major equipment and systems such as large motors, refrigeration, compressors, heaters, dryers, etc.

    Engineers who enjoy this type of work typically have some interest or experience with mechanical systems such as engines, compressors, pumps, gearboxes, etc.

    which may come from working on automobiles, farm equipment, or other machinery. We do not design or build airplanes, engines, or rockets. We operate and maintain the vast equipment required to reliably provide the test conditions required for ground testing.


    Basic Qualifications:
    B.S. degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering from an accredited university


    NOTE:
    This posting is specifically for those with less than 5 years' engineering experience.

    Current United States Citizenship is required.


    Preferred Qualifications:


    A minimum of 2 years of developmental experience such as practical work experience in relevant types of engineering such as systems startup, field engineering, or plant operations/maintenance in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or other engineering/construction firms.


    Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer aided engineering (CAE)/computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems.

    Prior engineering internship or co-op experience

    Multi-disciplinary experience (electrical engineering, mechatronics, control systems, etc.) is a plus.

    Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

    Must be able to communicate clearly and use various methods of communication.

    Ability to perform in a dynamic working environment with flexibility to achieve the mission

    Demonstrated experience successfully building relationships with team across engineering and craft workforce

    Active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance.

    This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S.

    Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee.

    AEDC operates more than55aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states.

    Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world.

    AEDC is one of three installations which are part of theAir Force Test Center(AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of theAir Force Materiel Commandorganization and an important national resource.

    AEDC's mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test.
