- Examine equipment, processes, operations, and procedures to identify improvement opportunities in areas of safety, quality, throughput, and cost.
- Implement changes and modify operation standards.
- Evaluate vendor proposals for new equipment purchases.
- Select and implement suitable manufacturing processes and apply modern organizational principles to make products at a competitive cost.
- Identify and optimize current and new manufacturing processes using continuous improvement.
- Work closely with production and maintenance to ensure equipment is operating in a like-new condition.
- Conduct Capability Studies and perform Time Studies.
- Develop process improvements and Visual Work Instructions.
- Provide production support and process troubleshooting.
- Reduce costs (scrap, rework, cycle time, etc.).
- Specify tools, jigs, and fixtures.
- Coordinate projects and perform daily troubleshooting.
- Participate in Kaizen events.
- Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or combined related experience.
- 2-4 years of engineering project experience in metal manufacturing.
- Experience in Lean manufacturing techniques, capability studies, process mapping, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to take a project lead role and work comfortably in a fast-moving continuous improvement culture.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with aggressive deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to understand complex process interactions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Creo and AutoCAD is a strong plus.
- Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or combined related experience.
- 2-4 years of engineering project experience in metal manufacturing.
- Experience in Lean manufacturing techniques, capability studies, process mapping, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
- Experience with Creo and AutoCAD.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship, Journeyman Certification, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with welding and light fabrication.
- Experience with industrial communication networks (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet).
- Experience with Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control loops and combustion controls.
- Basic understanding of mechanical devices.
