    The Opportunity

    Responsible for supporting the data compilation needs of our North American Underwriting team.

    Works with underwriters on accounts to ensure the loss data captured from offshore and third party vendors represents a complete ground-up view of account experience and that exposure data from account submissions is captured with appropriate granularity and specificity.

    Partner with actuarial and underwriting teams to produce or enhance data protocols, metrics for tracking quality and efficiency, and deliver training to reinforce protocols.

    Primary Responsibilities


    Review individual submission loss and exposure data generated by offshore teams to ensure QBE has captured the complete ground-up view of a casualty tower and the maximum level of detail available in exposure rating, including classification and location details when available.

    Provide direct support to offshore teams to understand loss coverage coding and aggregation and rating classifications from broker submissions.
    Partner with underwriting, actuarial, and operations management to develop and track metrics assessing submission data quality and efficiency. Suggest and evaluate service levels for submission completion and performance thresholds for data quality metrics.
    Partner with underwriting, actuarial, and operations to enhance submission protocols. Continuously review and enhance rules based off business feedback.
    Design and deliver training to reinforce data protocols as needed.

    Required Education

    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

    Required Experience

    5-7 years relevant experience in Underwriting and/or Operations roles

    Preferred Competencies/Skills

    Experience in commercial casualty underwriting or operations, preferably both

    Exposure to principles of casualty ratemaking and account structures, including familiarity with exposure and loss analysis and excess casualty contract terms - SIR, deductible, lead, umbrella, etc.

    Experience providing underwriting or operational training across a broad variety of audiences, including new underwriters or operations analysts as well as actuaries and data scientists.

    Preferred Education

    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

    Preferred Experience

    Experience in a commercial underwriting discipline
    Experience in a insurance operations role
    Experience with commercial casualty insurance, preferably excess casualty

    Base pay offered will vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location and business needs.
