- Expertly operate drilling rigs for micropiles, anchors, ground improvement, and diverse geotechnical applications.
- Skillfully manage excavators for light excavation, hammer/tamper activities, and material management tasks.
- Adapt and utilize various attachments (augers, buckets, breakers, grapples, etc.) based on project specifications.
- Conduct comprehensive daily inspections and preventive maintenance on all equipment.
- Quickly identify and report mechanical issues to supervisors.
- Accurately interpret and follow site plans, drilling logs, and directives from supervisors.
- Drill, tamp/compact, and prepare foundations, ensuring strict adherence to project designs.
- Collaborate effectively with crew members and spotters for precise drilling and excavation tasks.
- Assist in the loading/unloading of materials and the efficient management of spoil, aggregates, and backfill.
- Ensure proper alignment, depth, and accuracy in all drilling/tamping and excavation operations.
- Strictly follow OSHA, company, and site-specific safety regulations.
- Perform daily safety checks and maintain necessary equipment logs.
- Stay vigilant of surroundings to uphold safety for both crew and machinery.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and immediately report any unsafe conditions.
- Effectively communicate with site supervisors, engineers, and ground personnel to discuss project requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the foreman and quality control to meet drilling and excavation standards.
- Provide daily updates on progress, production rates, and any site-related issues.
- 3-5 years of experience as a drill rig or excavator operator in the construction sector.
- Preferred expertise in foundation drilling, micropiles, anchors, or geotechnical construction.
- Ability to read and interpret site drawings, drilling layouts, and basic geotechnical instructions.
- Strong understanding of heavy equipment operation and safety protocols.
- OSHA certification and relevant equipment operator training certifications required.
- Possess mechanical aptitude for effectively troubleshooting minor equipment issues.
- Able to work outdoors in demanding site conditions.
- Work in a construction site environment; engage in outdoor tasks during varying weather conditions.
- Be prepared for extended hours, including potential night and weekend shifts based on project schedules.
