From the classroom to the field, we work to develop systems that provide society's most basic needs in a sustainable way. For more information, position will manage field operations for Plant & Soil Sciences research and extension programs. Work will be conducted in the field, greenhouse, or office as needed. Major responsibilities may include preparation, planting, and harvesting variety trials across Oklahoma; establishment, maintenance, and oversight of research trials; management of data in MS Excel or other database management software; ensuring genetic integrity of seeds, crops, and grasses as assigned. Incumbent will be responsible for maintenance of facilities and equipment; providing direction and supervision to student and temporary employees; and communication with cooperators and stakeholders.There are lots of great reasons to work at OSU. Education & Experience Position Qualifications:

    Required: Bachelor's in Agriculture or closely related field
    Priority will be given to applicants with experience in Oklahoma agricultural production systems and/or agricultural research.
    Oklahoma Certified Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment

    CDL or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment

    Incumbent must have organizational and supervisory skills; attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks with seasonally heavy workloads; strong communication skills; ability to establish and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment with emphasis on safety; proficiency in basic computer skills and the ability to learn new computer programs as needed; proficiency in safe operation, maintenance, and basic repair of field and greenhouse machinery; ability to safely and proficiently drive a truck with loaded gooseneck or bumper hitch trailer.

    Work may include any of the following:Outdoor work often with loud equipmentWorking on and around agricultural machineryMixing and applying pesticidesExposure to extreme weather, dust, sun

    Must be able to lift 60 poundsAbility to climb on/off large machinery

    Preferred: Master's in Plant & Soil, Agronomy, or related field

    Two years' experience in related field; prior supervisory role; knowledge of experimental design and data analysis
    Oklahoma Pesticide Applicator LicenseCDL

    Knowledge of research methodology
