Duties
- Operate a variety of trucks including tractor-trailers.
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment ensuring proper handling and securement of goods.
- Navigate assigned routes confidently, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before hitting the road.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and compliance records throughout each shift.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a focus on commercial driving operations.
- Skilled in operating manual transmission vehicles with confidence and precision.
- Familiarity with handling various types of freight such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and heavy equipment like forklifts or dump trucks.
- Strong knowledge of route planning, load & unload procedures, and safety protocols for truck driving.
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections thoroughly and identify potential mechanical or safety concerns.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatch teams and clients effectively.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with relevant endorsements for specialized cargo if applicable.
