    Description

    We are working with a Southern California Plaintiffs' Personal Injury Law Firm seeking an ambitious associate attorney with two to five (2 to 5) years of experience. This growing entrepreneurial firm offers its attorneys a great deal of autonomy, along with career advancement opportunities. Successful candidates should have a JD from a respected law school, a California bar license, and a keen passion for obtaining justice for people harmed through no fault of their own. The firm is looking for a talented attorney willing to work hard to get the best result for clients. Writing and research skills are critically important; a writing sample will be required of each candidate, along with a resume.

    The firm has a large group of cases and needs a take-charge, aggressive, self-motivated attorney to move the cases from beginning to end. This position will not be micro-managed. The attorney will be required to focus on discovery, motion practice, depositions, and other nuts-and-bolts litigation tasks typical of a firm that takes cases to trial.

    Job Description

    • Plans case development by studying case information and speaking with the client.
    • Researches law, utilizing precedent and reasoning.
    • Persuasively writes motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
    • Manages cases by monitoring schedules, expediting requirements, and obtaining and forwarding information.
    • Helps clients by initiating and maintaining contact, preparing clients to answer discovery, and keeping clients informed of case status.
    • Prepares cases for trial and hearings by organizing evidence and exhibits, taking notes, scheduling witnesses, and engaging in dialogue and discussions.
    • Consistently exhibits strong writing and legal analysis skills.
    • Appears in court, conducts and defends depositions, including fact and expert witness depositions; drafts pleadings; and manages all discovery tasks, including issuing and answering discovery.
    • Presents plaintiffs for deposition.
    • Maintains knowledge of local, state, and federal statutes and applicable laws.
    • Works well with supporting paralegal.

    Compensation

    • Salary: $150,000 to $240,000 or more (depending upon experience)
    • Percentage of firm fees on top of base salary

    Civil Litigation Attorney Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree with a law degree from an accredited law school
    • At least two (2) years of litigation experience, preferably with at least one (1) year in a plaintiffs' firm
    • Firm represents injured victims. Successful candidates will enthusiastically embrace the firm's mission.
    • Membership in good standing in the California State Bar.
    • Excellent persuasive writing skills and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
