    Job Title:
    Production Supervisor, Group Leader (Automotive)


    Type of Position:
    12-month contract position to start. Possible to be renewed, likely long term for direct hire.


    Job Location:
    Lansing, MI (Delta Township)


    Compensation:
    We're generally seeking $25/hr to $29/hr (depending on experience). Overtime is paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

    HRU Technical Resources has partnered with General Motors to hire a Production Group Leader for our Lansing Delta Township plant.

    This location is where we build the Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse. LDT is the first-ever LEED-Gold Certified Automobile Manufacturing Facility. We're proud of the work that we do here in Lansing, and we'd love for you to join us


    Responsibilities:

    • You will be responsible for supervising a group of employees to develop business processes, manage production operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. You may also be engaged in problem solving, inspection, quality control, and quality assurance.
    • You will coordinate between our company as well as the UAW on various employee matters.
    • The work is of a technical nature and requires you to use independent judgment within the limits of Global Manufacturing Systems, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE).
    • In this role you will have the opportunity to learn new skills as well as influencing the development of manufacturing processes to support the historical and game-changing progression to electric and autonomous vehicles.

    Typical Day In The Role:

    • 45 minutes before the shift, you will check the headcount and the current needs.
    • You'll go over feedback from the previous shift.
    • The expectation is for you to run your line.
    • You will work with the leader and salaried employees to resolve any discrepancies.
    • You will be responsible for providing feedback on the quality of the vehicles, the safety of members and challenges that come up.
    • At the end of shift, you will recap the day and challenges for the next shift.
    • Our end goal is to make sure the quality is good for the customers.

    Required Skills / Experience:

    • Ability to coordinate, manage and lead people
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict
    • Basic computer proficiency (i.e. Microsoft Word, typing, email etc.)

    Preferred Skills / Experience:

    • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP)
    • Proficient in Throughput Improvement Process (TIP)
    • Advanced understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
    • Experience supervising employees in a union environment
    • Supply Chain or Quality Experience
    • Experience implementing Built-in-Quality Initiatives
    • Red X & DFSS Certification

    Education:

    • Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED at a minimum. Higher level education (such as an Associate or Bachelor's degree) is welcome but not required.
    • We're seeking candidates with 2+ years of relevant experience. Automotive industry experience is preferred, but we are open to candidates from many different background (for example, a military background).

    Work Environment / Other Info:

    • This role will be working on a team that rotates between 2 shifts. 1st (day) shift is: 6:30am to 4:00pm and 2nd (afternoon) shift is 5:00pm to 2:30am.
    • This role will have regular overtime (13 hours per week on average). Overtime is paid at 1.5x.
    • There will be a background check and drug screen if offered the role. Drug screen does NOT include cannabis. The
