    Description

    Job purpose

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality assurance and food safety programs for Barcel USA, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

    Duties and responsibilities
    • Promote a Quality Culture across the Organization.
    • Implement and maintain the Global Quality and Food Safety Standard in USA Barcel Operations to include but not limited to HACCP, HARPC, GMPs, Sanitation, Pest Control, Microbiology, Quality Control, Quality in Design, Laboratory, Customer Complains, etc.
    • Achieve Quality scorecard metrics and operational targets, corrective actions and lead a continuous improvement process.
    • Maintain and supervise Quality and Food Safety program in the supply chain through internal and external audits, verification, and validation.
    • Maintain the external quality certification defined by the Organization such as SQF and required by clients.
    • Interface with Marketing, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, R&D, Production, and Suppliers on quality related issues affecting products or service.
    • Develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
    • Conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
    • Coordinate with production, procurement, and other departments to ensure quality and food safety goals are met.
    • Manage documentation related to quality and food safety programs, including maintaining records and preparing reports.
    • Provide training and support to employees on quality assurance and food safety procedures.
    • Stay current with developments in food safety regulations and industry trends.
    • Achieve Quality scorecard metrics and operational targets, corrective actions and lead a continuous improvement process.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degrees in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or related technical field is required.
    • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in quality assurance and food safety management in the food industry.
    • SQF Practitioner, Internal Auditor Certified, PCQI and HACCP certified.
    • Knowledge of GFSI certifications (SQF, BRC, etc), Laboratory, Microbiology and Process Control.
    • Proved experience implementing Quality and Food Safety culture and programs in food industry.
    • Bilingual preferred, fluency in English and Spanish.
    • Project management knowledge preferred.
    • Systems approach understanding preferred.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Communication skills - verbal and computer skills.
    • Proactive and self-motivated.
    • Knowledge in various Microsoft software such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
    • Problem analysis and problem solving.
    • Planning and organizational skills.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment.
    • Teamwork and team management.
