    1. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
    2. HS graduate or equivalent.
    3. One year job-related experience.
    4. Valid Hawaii driver's license.
    5. Valid TB and medical clearance.
    6. Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
    7. DHS FBI/Criminal History & CAN, and Salvation Army background clearances
    8. PREFERRED QUALICATIONS:
    9. Meets Authorized Driving standards of the Salvation Army, including passing initial and annual MVR clearances to drive for work related functions and driving company vehicles.

    Job Summary: The Program Assistant (PA) can either be a full time or part time regular non exempt position under the Hilo Outreach/Prevention programs. The PA for this specific job requirements supports activities and services involved with youth homelessness, street outreach, and housing assistance funded through the Hawaii County. The PA is supervised by the Program Manager of the Hilo Outreach/Prevention program and will perform an array assigned activities that include direct and/or clerical services to support the Specialist staff members in the program with these related service areas.

    1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Perform the following essential functions under close supervision)
    2. Provide support to Specialists and other professional staff to:
    3. provide outreach and identified services to youth and families.
    4. assist in follow-up with youth, families and community agencies.
    5. provide transportation services as necessary.
    6. provide attendant care to youths.
    7. maintain required reports and case file documentation.
    8. Provide clerical support, including
    9. order supplies as required.
    10. maintain all program files and records.
    11. write, type or duplicate all correspondence, memos, forms and other program documents as required or requested by program staff.
    12. greet all "walk-in" clients and visitors and assist them to expedite the purpose of their visits.
    13. receive, open, date and distribute incoming mail and to be responsible for all outgoing mail.
    14. perform light bookkeeping.
    15. Perform office housekeeping, such as vacuum office, throw out trash, keep desks in neat orderly manner.
    16. perform all office errands as required or requested.
    17. assist in telephone reception.
    18. assist in scheduling appointments.
    19. Maintain professional worker-client and staff relationships at all times.

    DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Most work will be indoors at Family Intervention Services. Attendance at trainings, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, may be required.
