    About The Role

    Epitec is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer for the largest global automaker in the U.S. This is a hands-on, high-impact role supporting advanced manufacturing operations and critical automation systems within a fast-paced production environment.

    You'll work closely with maintenance, IT, vendors, and process teams to improve equipment performance, reliability, safety, and overall manufacturing efficiency.

    What You'll Do

    • Develop and implement improvements to control systems and equipment using Factory Information Systems (FIS) data
    • Lead problem-solving efforts to resolve equipment performance and downtime issues
    • Troubleshoot machinery, robotics, automation, and controls issues
    • Coordinate resources to identify root causes and implement sustainable fixes
    • Use FIS plant monitoring software to analyze equipment cycle times
    • Support and review new project installations and engineering changes
    • Reprogram equipment for process improvements and engineering updates
    • Maintain program backups for machinery and automation systems
    • Program new installations for automation, machinery, material handling, and robotics
    • Assist with integrating controls into IT systems (FIS, Error Proofing, QWX, QTS)
    • Support training for manufacturing personnel and plant electricians
    • Participate in equipment risk assessments and safety evaluations

    Required Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • 5+ years of related controls/automation experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Strong PLC experience (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Rexroth)
    • Proven troubleshooting and structured problem-solving skills
    • Experience working in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environments
    • Ability to collaborate with UAW maintenance, vendors, and cross-functional process teams
    • Demonstrated leadership behaviors with strong communication and teamwork skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
    • Strong knowledge of 8D, 5-Why, and corrective action methodologies
    • Familiarity with Lean xhmxlyz tools: 5S, Kanban, Poka‑Yoke, Value Stream Mapping
    • Knowledge of UL508A and NFPA79 standards
    • Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal programming and troubleshooting
    • Siemens power line and solution line configuration
    • Fanuc robotics troubleshooting experience
