LifeScape Specialty School is seeking a person fascinated with the rules and regulation related to the delivery of special education services for students with complex needs.
We currently have an opening for an Education Program Specialist where you will work closely with the Special Education Director to ensure the effective implementation and monitoring of components of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) within our specialty school.
You will have an oppportnunity to work directly within the interdisciplinary team to assist and guide teams through the special education process.
This position allows you to use your leadership and administrative skills in the implementation of all components of IDEA, statewide assessment, curriculum implementation, conflict resolution, completion of student evaluations, teacher evaluations, reviewing documentation for compliance, and team building.
Here are some of the unique job duties that are a part of this position:
Serves as teacher of record, assist to provide expertise, direction, guidance as well as problem-solving assistance for education staff who provide services within the IFSP, IEP, and/or Educational Services and oversee required federal, state and district assessment
Responds to routine questions/issues that arise during daily operations
Assists with staff training
Assists the Special Education Director with the oversight and implementation of curriculum, and the coordination involving teachers, families, and school districts on requirements for all federal, state and district-wide assessments as needed
Ensures all materials and trainings are available to teachers when completing federal, state and district-wide assessment requirements
Complies within federal, state and district-wide assessment testing windows, reports on completion, as indicated by the South Dakota Department of Education
Assists the Education Administration Team in the integration, implementation and coordination of the National Common Core instructional standards/curriculum/scope and sequence and state/federal assessment into the individual learning program for students and to ensure services meet instructional standards
