    SUMMARY:


    Under the general supervision of the Vice President, of Resource Development and External Relations, the Associate Director will research and identify funding sources; perform eligibility analysis and strategic need compatibility; disseminate potential funding source information to the college community; prepare and submit proposals to meet institution priorities and goals; and provide grant administration support for management of award implementation and compliance requirements as needed.

    Qualifications (Required and Preferred)

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS):
    Bachelor's Degree and/ or three (3) years related work experience and/or training that includes grant writing, grant administration, grant research and project planning/development


    PREFERRED:


    Documented experience as a primary writer and editor in the development of federal, state, and private grant applications as evidenced by writing portfolio and history of funding success.

    Higher education/community college grant writing experience. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks under deadlines. Knowledge of effective grant-writing procedures. Knowledge of and ability to research grants electronically and through print sources. The strong program, budget, evaluation design, editing experience.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities The incumbent will:

    Identify and research opportunities for grant funding from public, private and foundation sources that fit with the College's strategic plan.

    Communicate appropriate funding opportunities to the college community. Cultivate and maintain an in-depth knowledge of federal and state grant laws and regulations. Maintain knowledge of sponsoring agencies including funding opportunities, policies and program changes.

    Write, edit and prepare grant proposals, grant re-applications and letters of inquiry for submission to government agencies, corporations and foundations.

    Facilitate the mechanics of the planning process of proposal development by convening appropriate groups to develop and write grants. Develop, implement and maintain grant procedures. Assist in proposal editing and budget development.

    Review faculty applications and RFPs for submission and ensure assigned projects are completed and submitted in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and criteria of the granting agency directions and college policies and procedures.

    Ensure content is complete, accurate, and competitive.

    Coordinate final packaging of the proposal for submission or shipmentProvide grant writing workshops for faculty and staff to assist in building the capacity of the College for developing, funding and managing sustainable grant programs.

    Respond to faculty requests for assistance including best practices on grant development, grant program officers contact, developing trends.
    Provide training and technical assistance for faculty and staff on grant development and research.
    Coordinate timelines for public, private and foundation grant proposals with due dates.

    Specific to grant requirements the person will provide the following for required reports:
    Develop and maintain a database of proposals and a tracking system to monitor grant status and reporting deadlines. Notify of funding or denial of proposals.

    Develop and maintain a centralized grant resource library for grant proposals and grant management of all grants - federal, state, corporate, local and foundation; catalog and organize all data and information for audit-ready retrieval; develop and maintain informational website and portal for faculty access to College grant information; and create PDF forms to post on Website and portal.

    Provide information concerning the College and community and assistance with the development of budget and statistical data to support grant proposals.

    Assemble, review and submit grant budgets as part of grant application process. Ensure that grant expenditures are made in accordance with the restrictions and guidelines provided by the grantor.
    Coordinate the assembly and review periodic financial reports as required by the grantor.

    Work as a supportive and integrated team member for all initiatives of the Office of Development and the Temple College Foundation.

    Proficient in the use of technology, Microsoft Suites and a variety of computer applications.
    Ability to work with a diverse clientele.


    PHYSICAL EFFORT:
    Primarily light physical activity is required with occasional lifting and manipulation of objects up to 25 pounds. Position requires sitting or standing for extended periods. Keyboard manipulation and data entry for extended periods.


    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    All work is performed in an office setting. Duties will require travel in personal or school-owned vehicles. This position will require evening work during peak times.

    ANNUAL AND SICK LEAVE ACCRUALS ANNUAL LEAVE ACCRUALS:

    Regular, full-time twelve (12) month faculty and staff accrue Annual Leave as follows: Years of Service: 0 through 5 Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Month) = 8 Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Year) = 96 Years of Service: 6 through 10 Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Month) =10 Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Year) =120 Years of Service: 10 plus years Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Month) =12 Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Year) =144 Annual leave may be accrued up to a limit of 240 hours with special provisions allowing for annual accruals above that limit.

    Faculty with contracts less than 12 months do not accrue Annual Leave but are provided with 20 hours of personal time per fiscal year.


    SICK LEAVE ACCRUALS:

    Faculty and Administrative Staff:
    Accruals of 8 hours per month. Sick Leave may be accrued up to a limit of 1040 total hours.

    Faculty with contracts less than 12 months will receive accruals during the summer semester if they instruct during that time.


    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION HOLIDAYS:
    Recognized college holidays, in addition to Annual and Sick leave accruals, include Labor Day, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Martin Luther King Day, Spring Break, Good Friday, Memorial Day and Independence Day


    PAYROLL:
    Employees are paid by direct deposit through the last working day of the month. Actual deposits are paid on the last working business day of the month. All benefit deductions are taken at that time.


    RETIREMENT:

    Temple College is one of the few community colleges in the state of Texas to be permitted Federal Social Security deductions.

    Temple College is a Section 218 employer.

    All regular employees are mandated by the Texas State Legislature to enroll in either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) however, ORP participation is based upon position.

    All faculty members are eligible to participate in either TRS or ORP. A list of ORP providers is available.

    WORKERS COMPENSATION:

    If an employee is injured on the job, Temple College, through its Worker Compensation Program, pays all authorized hospital, nursing, and physician's fees.
