    Position Overview:
    Under general supervision, LPN's provide high quality support to physicians in meeting the medical needs of the patient. The office hours are Monday-Friday, ranging from 8:00am-6:00pm. There is a weekend shift, every sixth Saturday, 7 am - 1 pm at the Hopedale Office.

    This Physicians' office nurse will cross-train to cover physician satellite offices in Med Arts, Delavan, Manito, Atlanta, Mackinaw, and Hopedale as needed.


    Responsibilities:
    LPN's assist physicians as needed with patient care and exams.
    Prepare patients for exam. Document patient history and chief complaint. Review and record current medication, record vital signs. Record pediatric patient statistics on an appropriate growth chart. Update problem list if applicable.
    Provide and document complete and thorough patient and family education.

    Schedule surgeries ordered by physician when Central Scheduler is not available, obtaining all necessary forms and ordering all requested pre-op labs and x-rays.

    Provide pre-op instructions.
    Call in prescription medication refills to pharmacy after physician approval.
    Telephone triagerecord clear, concise caller information and deliver to the appropriate physician for review with the chart.
    Administer medications to patients as ordered by physicians.
    LPNs will flush Mediports as needed.
    Explain/obtain ABN from Medicare patientsManage the care of walk-in (nurse-only) patient visitsNotify patients of test results after reviewed by physicianProvide leadership and guidance to non-licensed office personnel including medical assistants, receptionists, and clerical staffRequirements:Valid Illinois LPN license is requiredCPR/AED certification is required, or must be willing to obtain upon hireExcellent written and verbal communication skills are requiredRegistered Nurses must be or become proficient in Medical ManagerRN's must have good knowledge of medicationsMust have experience with telephone triageHMC has been named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in the country for patient satisfaction
