    Description

    The job of Head Start Health and Nutrition Manager was established for the purpose/s of providing health care services within meeting the individual health needs of students; incorporating health care plans directed by physicians; complying with the laws related to student health, including parental and guardian consent; providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured students; providing health information and serving as a resource to teachers, staff, and administrators; conducting mandated health screenings and identifying health problems for referral for proper treatment.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Manages the functioning of the HS health component to ensure that the health and safety needs of all children (birth to five), and families are provided for.
    • Oversees the compliance is required with Federal and State Standards and Regulations, and with the overall goals, objectives, and mission of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program.
    • Provide Medical Administration Training for Education Staff
    • Provides professional medical consultative services to child care partnership sites, as needed.
    • Maintains accurate and complete child health records in Child Plus in compliance with all applicable State and Federal Standards and Regulations via PA Dept of Health, which are received from a variety of sources.
    • Monitors children's health and take necessary steps to secure appropriate treatment, as well as arrange for appropriate screenings to be conducted at regular intervals on all children.
    • Coordinate and develop a working Health & Nutrition Advisory Committee, which shall be made up of medical consultants, community representatives, parents, and staff.

    Minimum Requirements:
    Bachelor's Degree, Master's preferred in public health, nursing, health education, or health administration.
