    Position Summary:


    The Volunteer Coordinator manages all aspects of the Volunteer Section in order to provide support to our patients, families, and our team.

    The Volunteer Coordinator demonstrates commitment to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of hospice care and works in coordination with other members of Navian Hawaii's Interdisciplinary Team, providing communication between volunteers, staff and community professionals.


    Primary Responsibilities:
    Program ManagementCollaborate with the Support Services Manager (SSM) to ensure Volunteer Program is in-line with Navian Hawaii's Strategic Plan.
    Actively participate in weekly Interdisciplinary Team meetings.
    Actively participate in regular planning meetings with the SM.Monitors and evaluates all aspects of the volunteer program.
    Proactive in creating a vibrant and effective volunteer program. e.

    goal setting, improvement plans, and the creation and/or elimination of programs.
    Facilitates effective communication between Volunteer Department, inter-disciplinary teams, and all departments of NH. e.


    g:
    identifying and clarifying role of volunteer in plan of care.
    Responsible for data collection, inputting, and record keeping of pertinent volunteer department information. Includes all direct and non-direct patient care hours and volunteer notes.

    Responsible for monthly, yearly, and other required or requested reports for Medicare, Volunteer and Counseling Services Department, and Hospice Hawaii Directors and Managers.

    Maintains volunteer personnel files and other paperwork as needed.
    Arrange and participate in support groups and continuing education for volunteers according to needs.
    Volunteer CoordinationResponsible for the recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers.
    Ensures volunteer training is in compliance with CMS guidelines.
    Provides communication between Interdisciplinary team and volunteers as needed. e.

    pertinent plan of care and patient health status updates to volunteers.
    Develops and maintains a process to provide timely and effective volunteer support to patients and families.
    Responsible for conducting periodic evaluation of all volunteers.
    Develops and monitors a system of support and supervision for all volunteers. e.


    g:
    support groups and phone calls.
    Plans and participates in a yearly recognition program for volunteers.
    Community Service and Public RelationsParticipates in speaker's bureau and community events as needed.
    Participates in the marketing of the Volunteer Program.
    Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external community volunteer programs.
    Represents Navian Hawaii at various functions and meetings to enhance awareness of our services.
    Provides community in-service education

    Miscellaneous Duties:
    Assists in gathering of information for budget and annual reports.
    Performs other duties and projects as assigned by the SSM, and/or President.


    Knowledge and Skills Requirements:


    Ability to communicate with, establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with Navian Hawaii staff, clients, family members, the public, and representatives of other agencies and organizations.

    Ability to maintain clinical records and prepare related reports.


    Experience and Educational Requirements:
    Completion of high school diploma. Bachelors Degree preferred.
    Minimum 2 years experience in managing and supervising individuals and program development.

    At least one year of supervisory responsibility with proven ability in interpersonal relations, organization development, program management and public relations.

    Experience in human services preferred.
    Experience in planning, implementing and managing a program with a multidisciplinary setting.
