    Project Engineer – Heavy Highway

    A reputable construction firm, with a rich history of significant projects, is seeking a Project Engineer to join its Heavy Highway team.

    The firm has recently secured a pivotal project collaborating with a state transportation department to enhance broadband internet infrastructure across central regions.

    As a Project Engineer, you'll be a central figure in the management of Job Order Contracts for large-scale highway construction projects.

    Your responsibilities will include the coordination and oversight of all technical, project management, and administrative tasks. You'll work closely with a dedicated team, stationed primarily at our regional office in the East Bay area.
    Engage in daily activities relating to contract management, change orders, submittals, procurement, financials, cost management, and billing.

    Collaborate with field operations experts to develop and refine project strategies, ensuring all goals are met efficiently and effectively.

    Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve outstanding project outcomes.

    Contribute to a culture of respect and community engagement, upholding the foundational values established by the firm's founders in the early 20th century.

    Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
    3-5 years of experience in a Project Engineer role, with specific experience in heavy civil construction.
    Familiarity with public work projects and specifications, ideally with experience on state transportation department projects.

    Excellent communication skills and proficiency in project management software; knowledge of PlanGrid, Smartsheet, and HCSS HeavyJob is a plus.

    Plan, schedule, and execute projects according to specifications, ensuring all project goals are met.
    Monitor project costs and manage finances to optimize financial outcomes.
    Participate in project meetings and ensure effective communication and coordination of new purchase orders and subcontractor change orders.
    Maintain high standards of safety and quality, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
    This position requires occasional travel and physical work on uneven terrain.
