Husbandry Assistant - Green Bay, WI

Cleans and sanitizes animal exhibits prepares diets for a wide variety of species monitors feed inventories maintains clean and orderly kitchen feed storage areas and animal hospital facilities This position will also provide opportunities for learning husbandry techniques and gaining animal handling experience This is an LTE position which means there are no benefits given with the role Hours available: 1-3 days per week to include weekends Prepares zoo diets for zoological specimens Inspects and cleans food storage food preparation area and animal exhibits to insure safe and sanitary conditions for both public and collection specimens Maintains records observations on collection reports routinely to manager on status of individual animals Performs general preventative maintenance work on zoo grounds facilities including landscaping cleaning mowing painting minor construction Assists in training direction assigned volunteers Assists in enforcement park ordinances public safety Performs related functions as assigned Education Experience General knowledge Biology Zoology or Animal Husbandry or any equivalent combination education experience provides necessary knowledge skills abilities Previous relevant experience preferred Licenses Certifications Valid Wisconsin Drivers License Hunter Safety Firearm Safety Certification ability obtain within months hire Knowledge Skills Abilities Minimal working knowledge building grounds maintenance Minimal working knowledge animal husbandry Minimal horticultural landscaping methods Knowledge utilize computer require software ZIMS ISIS programs Ability perform heavy manual labor Ability operate trucks power equipment Ability follow detailed instructions Ability communicate effectively orally writing Ability answer inquiries complaints effectively tact courtesy Ability maintain effective working relationships staff public
