Behavioral Support Specialist at Lynchburg City Schools

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Compliance with all policies and regulations of Lynchburg City Schools.
Collaboration with school staff to implement intervention and prevention strategies for students.
Facilitation of student's classroom integration and participation in group activities.
Attendance to personal needs of students according to care plans.
Supporting the teacher and student with the use of assistive technology.
Performing other appropriate duties assigned by the special education case manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, education, or related field.
Combination of education and experience demonstrating required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Demonstrated understanding of attendance laws, intervention strategies, and referral sources.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Reliable transportation required.
Travel within the City of Lynchburg as needed.
Minimal travel outside of the City of Lynchburg as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, talking, using hands, and stooping.
