    Job DescriptionSalary: $12-$14

    Assistant Teacher

    Position Description:

    An assistant teacher reports directly to the lead teacher for the implementation and ongoing success of the center's educational program. The assistant teacher is responsible for assisting the lead teacher in the general supervision and management of the classroom.

    The assistant teacher will interact with children in a positive, supportive manner, encouraging cooperative play. The assistant teacher will have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate to children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance to the school's educational philosophy.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the lead teacher
    • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
    • Maintain professional attitudes and loyalty to the school at all times.
    • Assist with maintaining a safe, orderly classroom.
    • Uphold Nebraska Core Competencies for Early Childhood Professionals (which affects individual performance evaluations)
    • Maintain a classroom environment in which children feel secure, welcome, and valued.
    • Helping with general housekeeping tasks, setting up activities, and maintain close and safe supervision of children on a daily basis.
    • Covers lunch and bathroom breaks
    • Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences
    • Participate in professional organizations that work for the improvement of early childhood education
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred
    • At least 3 years of experience in Early Childhood Education
    • Skills and knowledge anyone working in the early childhood field would have.
    • Maintain scheduled work hours but be flexible in rescheduling hours to meet centers needs
    • Ability to work with Management
    • Must LOVE to work with children
    • Ability to lift at least 35lbs
    • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
