    Job Description

    This is a position located at The Eye Clinic of North Dakota Retina Clinic in Bismarck/Mandan, ND, serving multiple satellite locations.

    Under the direction of the Ophthalmic Team and Administrator, this role assists in caring for surgical patients by performing routine and delegated duties. It involves scrub duties as well as Ophthalmology Technician responsibilities on non-surgical days. These duties include screening and preparing patients for clinical exams with Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.

    Required Education:

    • Completion of Surgical Technologist program

    Licensure Requirements:

    • Certified Surgical Technologist certification

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
    • Apply principles of aseptic and sterile technique
    • Understand fundamentals of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and sterilization procedures
    • Familiarize yourself with basic surgical procedures and equipment usage
    • Know medications relevant to eye surgery
    • Establish effective communication with doctors, patients, and staff

    Physical Effort:

    • Lift at least 40 lbs. of medical equipment during satellite travel

    Travel and Work Schedule:

    • Primarily work Monday through Friday, 8:00-5:00
    • Satellite locations involve travel (vehicle & small plane) returning late in the day (10:00 pm or later), approximately 2-3 days per month in rotation with other technicians
