    SUMMARY
    Work with management to identify new process improvement opportunities in the areas of cost, performance, standardization, quality, and preventive and predictive maintenance. They will evaluate and analyze current process metrics and performance to identify areas requiring improvement. Lastly, the Continuous Improvement Process Engineer will provide process engineering and improvement support within our shop and with our customers to achieve product and project objectives.

    What you will do
    • Work with management to identify new process improvement opportunities in the areas of cost, performance, standardization, quality, and preventive and predictive maintenance
    • Supply, upgrade, and maintain equipment, and provide process knowledge, to the metals industry
    • Work with digital, electrical & automation, mechanical / fluids engineering
    • Development of new products and continuous improvement of existing products
    • Provide process engineering and improvement support within our workshop and with our customers to achieve product and project objectives
    • Collect, monitor, and analyze data to identify opportunities that reduce process variation, improve process capabilities and optimize process performance
    • Lead process improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency and productivity
    • Facilitate and lead the deployment of new and changed processes to provide improved results
    • Assist in execution of projects
    • Participation in engineering studies, which examine our facility in depth and provide recommendations for process and equipment improvements
    • Field service work with our customers to troubleshoot problems associated with their metals manufacturing processes and equipment
    • Commissioning of equipment at our customers facilities, as required
    • Mixture of office and field work
    • Support proposal preparation with metallurgical and process calculations
    • Prepare technical presentations of our technology to prospective customers
    • Develop standard procedures and policies to be followed at the plant
    • Train and guide resources as needed
    • Assist plant and operations manager in management of capital projects
    • Prepare project presentations for management when needed
    • Review and update business procedures and documents based on project requirements
    • Implement lean manufacturing and 5-S principles to the process to promote improvements
    • Must have strong organizational, analytical, communication and influencing skills to drive sustained change
    What you will need
    • BS degree in Engineering, Mechanical and/or Industrial engineering is preferred or equivalent experience
    • Understanding of manufacturing and/or process improvement is preferred
    • Understanding in automation, digitalization, and process simulation is preferred
    • Understand cost analysis and understanding of financial impact on shop budget and sales
    • Candidates must be self-motivated and display creativity, strong problem solving skills, data analysis skills, and work well in a diverse team environment
    • Candidates should have a strong ability to multitask
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent computer skills and excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
    • Basic knowledge of steel producing equipment, steel production, welding and/or machining preferred
    • Solid attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines, effectively prioritize, self-manage and work independently at times;
    • Capability to balance projects and tasks in a fast-paced setting;
    • Strong interpersonal skills with proven success in building and maintaining effective working partnerships across all areas.
