    Description
    Our team is responsible for the design, development, and innovation of sensor and computer hardware for our autonomous vehicle.

    We are looking for someone enthusiastic, innovative, a self-starter, and excited to work as an exceptional Mechanical Sustaining Engineer for our optical sensor team.

    In this role, you will be asked to update and improve designs for mechanical components and assemblies for our sensor systems.


    In this role, you will:
    Take mechanical design ownership of existing optical sensor hardware
    Create new designs that address necessary improvements to sensor systems
    Design our new sensor fixtures
    Manage existing and create new Bills of Materials and overall design configurations using CAD and PLM tools
    Communicate with external partners and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, and get design feedback
    Qualifications

    Experience with electronics packaging design
    Optomechanical design experience
    At least 7 years of relevant industry experience
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    Can work independently but isn't afraid to ask for help from others
    Bonus Qualifications

    Hands-on fabrication experience
    Experience with Quality Engineering principles and inspection processes
    Compensation

    There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights.

    The salary range for this position is $162,000 to$232,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level.

    Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.

    The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.

    Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.
