    Job DescriptionJOB TITLE: Material Handler (Fabric)

    Bargaining Unit Status: Non-Bargaining Unit

    FULL-TIME ☒, OR PART-TIME ☐ (hours per week: 40) Work Schedule/Hours: 6:00 AM-3:00 PM M-F

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
    High School Diploma or GED preferred.

    EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Ability to read and write.
    • Ability to read a ruler.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must be authorized for coverage under agency insurance if operating agency vehicle, have good driving record, valid driver's license, and required level of personal auto insurance.
    • Must be able to complete a background check, per company requirements satisfactorily.
    • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
    • Ability to arrive early or stay late if needed.
    • Adequate ability in communicating in spoken conversation – adequate volume speech.
    • Ability to effectively build and maintain positive working relationships with management and peers.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY:
    Handles materials for assigned departments. Keeps work moving to and from all stations.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Handles materials for the department to which they are assigned.
    • Responsible for keeping work moving to and from all stations in the production process.
    • Brings all materials out of stock and returns materials to stock.
    • Transfers materials to the next workstation in the production process.
    • Packing of materials for assigned department.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO THIS POSITION MAY INCLUDE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: Based upon workload demands, you may arrive early, or work late.

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Adequate ability for conversation, telephone use, and emergency information systems.
    • Ability to be independently mobile on all surfaces and situations.
    • Ability to move safely about the work area.
    • Ability to retrieve items from high and low areas.
    • Ability to perceive size, discrimination, temperature, shapes, and textures.
    • Ability to safely retrieve and transport up to 10 pounds an average of 20 times daily.
    • Ability to use hands (or adaptive device) for fine manipulation
    • Ability to use feel (or adaptive device) for operation of foot controls
    • Ability to bend/squat/twist/kneel several times per day
    • Physical stamina to work at least 8 hours per day.

    EMOTIONAL CAPACITIES:
    • Must be able to change routine positively.
    • Must be able to follow through on assignments independently.
    • Must possess effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Must have stable work behaviors daily.
    • Must have adequate individual coping skills.
    • Must be able to maintain good work attendance.
    • Must be able to participate in decision-making.
    • Must be able to respond appropriately in emergencies.
    • Must be able to exercise good judgment to maintain a safe work environment.
