    The Grant Officer position will build our foundation prospect pipeline to identify and secure new sources of revenue in support of our mission. The position is responsible for writing all foundation or grant LOI's, grant applications, proposals, grant reports and conducting all grant program tracking, including managing proposal submission deadlines and deliverables. This individual will apply knowledge of fundraising methods and plans to reach income goals and collaborate with team members in the organization to assist with other fundraising projects and develop relationships with key stakeholders.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelors in related field, preferred.
    • 3 years of experience in grant writing, grant management, or related work within the field of nonprofit development/communication.
    • Exceptional grant writing skills, including a record of success writing winning proposals and LOI's.
    • Ability to write detailed grant reports.
    • Ability and skills with grant budgeting and knowledge of the basics of nonprofit finance/accounting.
    • Ability and skills with grant management and grant stewardship best practices.
    • Knowledge of, the institutional/foundation giving landscape and private foundation funding process and norms.
    • Foundation research/prospecting skills.
    • Skills with project management tools and donor databases.
    • Ability to collaborate and coordinate between departments and work with diverse colleagues with varying specialties.
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented; A team player with outstanding judgment, highly developed analytical abilities, interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
    • Work from home position, with residency in one of our primary states of operations: Wisconsin, California, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Oregon, or Washington.

    Responsibilities:

    Grant Development

    • Work closely with the Director of Advancement to ensure the design and implementation of grant development strategies that support the goals and objectives of the organizational Advancement Plan.
    • Responsible for renewing all current foundation grants, including writing grant proposals, and coordinating interdepartmental input in the grant application processes.
    • This includes completing all required foundation grant reporting, including narrative and financial reports, working with program, research, and finance staff to compile accurate information and ensure timely submission.
    • Conduct foundation prospect research, creating a robust prospect pipeline that demonstrates alignment of prospect that have a shared heart for our mission and vision.
    • Partner with Advancement Officers to develop and pursue funding opportunities.
    • Stay informed of current trends and best practices in grant writing and fundraising.

    Grant Management

    • Record and track all grant activity in CRM database, including grant renewals, grant reports and foundation prospect outreach.
    • Manage and write funder reports and deliverables on time and to a high standard.
    • Manage the Grants Team inbox and communications, ensuring timely responses to inquiries.
