    Job Summary
    This position is eligible to telework after successful completion of training period.


    This position exists to develop, design, conduct, and evaluate training courses conducted by the State of Minnesota Homeland Security and Emergency Management's Training Program.


    The incumbent will work with the HSEM Training and Exercise Team to understand what the training needs are and augment existing instructor cadres or create new courses to meet those training needs.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications
    3 years professional experience of working in an

    emphasis/coursework

    in teaching/training emergency management and/or emergency response teaching adult learners
    Knowledge of and demonstrated history of applying adult learning principles and techniques necessary to impart knowledge in a systematic way, which may include theory, application and simulation exercises, that results in an integration of learning with consideration of audience needs and background
    Skill and ability to work constructively in stressful situations to deliver presentations and/or communicate information in a clean and concise manner, in one-on-one or group settings; seek feedback; solicit and explore diverse perspectives and opinions; respond flexibly and prioritize requests
    Knowledge of principals, techniques, and best practices for planning and project management.
    Effective communication style including excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
    Ability to successfully complete the HSEM Emergency Managers certification program within two years of their employment start date
    Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.
    *Associates degree can equal six (6) months experience and Bachelor's degree can equal one (1) year of experience.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Demonstrated ability to assess training needs and priorities and to receive and translate feedback received about training into actionable strategies and recommendations
    Bachelor's degree in experiential education or emergency management
    Successfully completed HSEM's Emergency Management certificate program
    Physical Requirements

    Light:


    Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently.

    Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
