Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation's largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served.
The Transmission & Distribution Operations Division is recruiting for a Manager 3 to lead the Scheduling and Planning group.
This team is responsible for reviewing and coordinating the Division's capital and maintenance operations for both the North and South Service Centers.
This position will report to the directly to the Transmission & Distribution Operations Director.Provides leadership to manage planning and scheduling team responsible for maintaining long- and short-range work plans.
Facilitates weekly planning and scheduling meetings with multiple divisions; EC&M/T&D Operations, Customer Operations, and Engineering to discuss upcoming workload and set weekly/monthly schedule.
Oversee workload planning and review, crew coordination, job analysis, and resource utilization.Provides integral technical information using Work Asset Management System (WAMS) and leadership in balancing the needs of asset management, operations, and construction through the planning and efficient utilization of resources.
Provides guidance and support for all direct reports and internal/external stakeholders.Manages the development and production of up-to-date organizational indicators to assist utility leadership and direct line supervision in their decision making.
Manages the organization's budget, allocating financial and staffing resources to achieve successful customer and operational outcomes.Leads and supports efforts to continually improve business practices and process to maximize City-wide resources and achieve operation excellence.
Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
Provides oversite of the planning and scheduling calendar.
Required Qualifications:
In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has:
Education:
College-level coursework in engineering, business or public administration equivalent to a two-year degree; or additional qualifying experience.
Experience:
Eight years' experience in design, construction, maintenance, or operation of electrical distribution systems. Five years of supervisory experience. Ability to work with a diverse work force, change management skills, excellent customer service, written and oral communication skills.
Certification/License:
Current Washington State driver's license.
Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
Proven experience using Work Asset Management System (WAMS) to navigate system to enter and collect data, develop reports, analyze job/task status and other outputs.
Progressively responsible experience managing employees.Experience in planning and scheduling for large projects.
Experience in working across groups in a matrix organizational framework.
Understands business efficiencies and effectiveness opportunities.
Significant experience in support of operations in a large utility.
Significant experience with electrical utility operations and practices.
Understanding of the preparation, management, and forecasting of organizational budget.
Knowledge of human resources practices, including labor relations.
Ability to foster and model effective customer service and achieve excellent outcomes.
Ability to manage change, make difficult and challenging decisions, provide clear expectations and directions, and foster creativity and problem-solving.
Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship
Experience with use of business process and performance metrics.
Knowledge and experience using software; Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Visio.
