- Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy and completion.
- Responsible for resolving issues regarding day-to-day operations.
- Responsible for training and development of shipping and receiving clerks.
- Identifies improved methods, and efficient and economical utilization of materials.
- Ensures proper handling and storage of Govt. Furnished Materials (GFM).
- Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
- Reviews loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
- Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
- Ensures accurate inventory of materials.
- Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas an oversees inventory process.
- Ensures disposal of scrap is handled per policy when a job is complete, and vessel leaves the dock.
- Ensures adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
- Establishes accountabilities and goals used for performance evaluation and trains as needed.
- Travels to warehouse locations as needed to ensure proper operations.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience handling GFM highly preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of shipping and receiving experience, supervisory exp preferred but not required.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be computer literate and be familiar with the process of using a PC to record inventory, transfers, and shipments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to manage and motivate employees.

JOB SUMMARY: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, preparing items for shipment and storage.
