Job Summary: Union County Public Schools is seeking a detail-oriented Finance Specialist. This position is responsible for employee onboarding, absence management, and purchasing. Crucially, this role serves as the back-up for the Payroll Specialist; therefore, applicants with payroll and benefits experience will be prioritized.Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll & Benefits Support: Serve as the primary backup for the Payroll Specialist, assisting with payroll processing, benefits administration, and reporting to governing agencies.
- Onboarding: Manage the onboarding process for newly hired employees and volunteers.
- Financial Records: Process district purchase orders, maintain vendor records, and update various financial and statistical records.
- Absence Management: Maintain the district's employee absence management system.
- Administrative Support: Perform general administrative assistant duties and provide office support as needed.
- Required: High school diploma/G.E.D. and one year of experience maintaining automated financial/statistical records.
- Strongly Preferred: Previous work experience with payroll and benefits, purchasing, and accounts payable (ideally in a school finance setting).
- Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects independently, high attention to detail, and adaptability.
