    Summary

    The Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for two full-time, 9-month, renewable Assistant Teaching Professor positions with a start date of August 2024.

    These are non-tenure track positions.

    The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is located within the College of Arts and Sciences.

    The Department enjoys a nationally ranked doctoral program that offers a full range of graduate programs including two doctoral degree programs (PhD in Mathematics and PhD in Statistics) and undergraduate major specializations in actuarial science, statistics, data science, pure math, and applied math.

    In addition, the Department participates in the recently established interdisciplinary PhD and MS programs in Data Science. The Department has 29 full-time faculty members, more than 70 graduate students and about 100 undergraduate majors. The faculty are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service.

    Essential Functions

    The primary duty of both positions is to teach Foundational Mathematics courses, particularly college algebra and quantitative reasoning (QR), or other mathematics and statistics courses, depending on qualifications and department need.

    The algebra class is fully taught in our ALEKS-based Math Emporium, as is a portion of the QR course. Additional duties include providing service to the department, college, or university.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, or in a closely related field (e.g., mathematics education) conferred at the time of application.
    • Experience teaching college algebra or a quantitative reasoning/literacy course as a TA.
    Preferred Qualifications


    • Doctoral degree in mathematics, statistics, or in a closely related field (e.g., mathematics education) conferred at the time of application.
    • Experience teaching college algebra or quantitative reasoning/literacy as an instructor of record.
    • Experience teaching in a Math Emporium.
    • Experience teaching elementary statistics as an instructor of record.
    • Experience teaching an online course.
