Job Description:
Engineers have deep knowledge and hands-on experience in enterprise-wide platforms, and solve technical problems while working on technology initiatives. Engineers have strong architectural, leadership, and technical skills. They ensure delivery of high-quality artifacts, and adhere to and follow our SDLC.

Engineers interact in a highly effective manner with other team members and management, drive innovation, and influence delivery and performance.

The Engineer will provide strategic Cloud Architectural/Engineering leadership while guiding a DevOps team and Application teams across multiple value streams.

This role will work closely with Solution Architects and Software Engineers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as we build the next generation Cloud Platform as part of the Digital Modernization Initiative.

The Engineer will work closely with internal scrum teams to assess customer and application requirements, implement Cloud Architecture and DevOps principles, and provide architecture/engineering guidance around cloud-native services, infrastructure and DevOps.

The successful candidate will ensure application functional requirements and non-functional requirements such as scalability, performance, high-availability, security & compliance are met by the Platform, while your cloud designs are cost-conscious.

The Engineer is responsible for developing a roadmap to advance the platform capabilities to address future business requirements.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to deliver strong results across a variety of assignments; possess strong written and verbal communication skills, have a high capacity for learning agility and the ability to effectively engage globally across all levels of stakeholders throughout the organization to achieve optimal business outcomes.

Role & Responsibilities:
Automates, documents, shares, educates, delegates, and improves processes.
Builds prototypes of potential features.
Creates conceptual and detailed technical design documents and standards.
Enhances automation of applications, systems, and platforms and identifies opportunities for streamlining, and continuous process improvement.
Applies knowledge to practical and sustainable applications and capabilities.
Contributes, interprets, and communicates enterprise, technical, project, and operational strategies to the team.
Develops team vision to drive new capabilities against a published roadmap, in conjunction with management.
Ensures that proposed and existing systems are aligned with organizational standards, goals, and objectives.

Formulates and directs activities that align short term goals and long-term initiatives while providing accurate and timely estimates of work breakdown schedules.

Influences and drives adoption of best practices and high-quality standards throughout the division.

Tests and resolves problems, performs root cause analysis, identifies gaps, recommends solutions and preventative measures, and leads team members to solution delivery plans.

Runs proof of concepts and uses diagnostic/debugging skills to solve current challenges in multi-platform systems.
Orchestrates reviews for system additions and/or enhancements.

Promotes and supports a culture of compliance, risk avoidance/mitigation, and corporate accountability throughout the organization through technical leadership, knowledge of business need, development and communication of policies, procedures, and plans, and assurance of solution designs that are in compliance with architecture standards, technology guardrails, security, and operational guidelines.

Provides leadership/mentoring to team members, implements development efficiencies, creates appropriate. documentation, drives operational efficiencies and technical growth within the team, and supports the release model

Provides technical leadership in implementation of applications, strategic planning sessions, documentation of requirements, tool implementation, database query languages, and programming languages.

Uses subject matter expertise to support industry standard source control and source change management techniques.
Presents technical designs and solutions to executives, management, and other audiences to gain consensus and/or project approval.
Translates business requirements and designs innovative solutions in Azure, multi-region, highly available environments.

Works interactively with Solutions Architects, Systems Architects, SW-development leads to design and architect cloud solutions and related features and user stories.

Designs and communicates cloud architectures/cloud features to agile development teams and validates implementation to operate at scale.

Plans, roadmaps, and owns the crafted Cloud architecture for implementation and perform a feature decomposition within a Scaled Agile development environment.

Maintains a strong security posture in infrastructure and application deployments and development environments.

Designs and automates the deployment of cloud infrastructure in CI/CD pipelines and leverage cloud-native services to support application deployment and development.

Stays ahead of new cloud technologies and offerings; resolves how to integrate into existing architectures.
Mentors technical team members across different teams about cloud standard processes, including training and demos; educates new-to-cloud team members.
Develops and documents standards and engineering best practices to deliver higher quality and scalable solutions.
Resolves complex issues in creative and effective ways, adapted to each customer's needs.
Provisions applications in virtualized or container-based platforms on AKS.
Integrates systems including SQL, NoSQL dbs, and Messaging tools and Application code with landing zones and platform infrastructure.

Required Skills:
10+ years enterprise scale Azure Cloud Application/service Design and Development experience.
7+ years experience with Azure Kubernetes Service Orchestration tooling/technology (Puppet, Terraform, Docker, AKS.)
Knowledge of Azure Networking, Azure Frontdoor, GTM, CDN and Firewall capabilities.
Strong knowledge of Azure Cloud Design patterns and best practices.
Knowledge of SOLID design principles, Service Oriented Architecture, n-tier Application development experience.
Experience in Azure DevOps and git-based development/delivery workflows.
Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python etc.)
Experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline development.
Experience working with Landing zones for standardized Identity, Access, Management, Monitoring, Deployment.
Experience working with SQL and NOSQL (Cosmos, Mongo) databases.
Must be extremely responsive, able to work under pressure in crisis with a strong sense of urgency.
Responsible, conscientious, organized, self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
Must be detail-oriented and possess strong problem-solving skills and ability to proactively analyze for potential future issues.

Recommended Skills:
Azure Architect Certification.
Hands-on experience with API Gateway, Apigee Edge, APIM, or other similar technologies.
Experience with WAFs CDNs such as Akamai, Fastly, Azure Front Door.
Experience with Caching technologies like Redis.
Experience with ContentStack or other content caching, configuration management tool sets.
Familiarity with monitoring tools like Dynatrace, Splunk etc.
Knowledge of Information Security best practices & principles (certificates, encryption, etc.).
