    Brief PROJECT Overview

    The Reference Standard Laboratory (RSL): RSL is primarily responsible for collaborative testing of reference standard (RS) candidates, product investigations, Continued Suitability of Use (CSU) and New Use (NU) studies. RSL executes short-term and long-term stability studies arising from product investigations or new product development. In addition, RSL supports other programs and new initiatives as needed.

    The Scientist I Intern will participate in USP collaborative studies, other programs related to development and maintenance of quality Reference Standards, and general laboratory activities. Their work will result in obtaining analytical data used in USP robust, scientific standard setting process to enhance USP mission of helping to ensure the quality, safety, and benefit of medicines and foods.

    How will YOU create impact here at USP?

    During the 12-week period of the internship (on-site), the intern will complete initial orientation to USP and Reference Standards Laboratory. The successful candidate for Scientist I Intern will have the opportunity to develop hands on experience and solidify their knowledge in various analytical laboratory technics. This will be achieved by working with lab scientists, technical training, job shadowing, and rotation. The intern may also perform other duties to support the day-to-day operation of the laboratory.

    During this period, interns may participate in other social activities within the scope of USP policies and practices.

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemistry or relevant field.

  • Demonstrating good understanding of principals of analytical testing.

  • Displaying basic understanding of good documentation practices.

  • Demonstrating ability to collaborate with others in the team.

  • Maintaining an internship development plan established by the mentor and demonstrating ability to eagerly meet goals of it in timely manner by Attending and completing assigned training.
