Duties "Duties include, but are not limited to:
Admit and manage inpatients with general adult medical illnesses.
This includes performing histories and physical examinations, rounding on patients, writing progress notes, discharge planning and timely completion of discharge summaries.
Work closely with specialists and primary care physicians to ensure that inpatients receive continuous high-quality care.Demonstrate interest in engaging in ongoing process improvement with respect to measures of quality care, patient safety, patient satisfaction, patient and family education, utilization management, cost control.
Take an active role in optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the inpatient care process from admission through discharge.Perform inter-professional rounds on assigned medical awards, managing, and participating in the patients' care.
Participate in quality management/assurance and chart review activities.
Participate in and at times lead, clinical and education administrative committees, task groups, or special projects.
Serve on Medical Staff committees.
Experience with routine Hospitalist procedures preferred.
Provide triage services for coordination of admission of patients currently in an ambulatory setting including the emergency room and/or clinic.
Discuss all medical admissions with emergency room, ICU, and clinic physicians to ensure clinical appropriateness of admission to general medical floors.
Discuss with external attending providers, the possible transfer of appropriate Veterans from outlying hospitals/Emergency Departments.Work Schedule:

Contract Buy Out Program:
This position may be eligible for the Physician / Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonus contracts, Physician-owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (minimum 4 years).
