    Position Summary


    This position reports to the Diversity Supplier Officer of the Equal Opportunity Compliance (EOC) department and will provide assistance and support to the small business community in the certification and bidding process of county contracts for goods and services.

    Incumbent will work with the Locally Owned Small Business (LOSB), Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Women Business Enterprise initiative to ensure inclusion of and equal opportunity of small business subcontracts and/or supplies in the contract award.

    Pay Grade: 42

    Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education

    Minimum Qualifications

    100% -•Three (3) years of experience with contract handling and compliance; AND


    • High school diploma or possess a GED.
    • PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
    Duties and Responsibilities


    • Verifies contractors/vendors' eligibility to submit bids by taking statistical information and determining level of minority business participation.
    • Certifies firms and assigns LOSB/EOC numbers.
    • Researches complaints and liaises between contractors /vendors and EOC management.
    • Updates the contract compliance database and provides advice and assistance to database users.
    • Monitors and attends bid openings and pre-bid conferences.
    • Maintains and updates the locally owned small business directory.
    • Compiles, prints, and distributes weekly, monthly, and annual reports for the Board of Commissioners and various departments in Shelby County Government.
    • Coordinates the annual business showcase, selects booths, assigns worker time slots and creates vendor packets.
    • Represents EOC at the business showcase.
    • Performs other related duties as required or directed.

    KSAs -•Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment and machines.


    • Skilled in effective written and verbal business communication with a strong arithmetic aptitude.
    • Knowledge of data processing and/or word processing principles or techniques. (Special knowledge may be required in this area.)
    • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
    • Ability to instruct or direct the work of others.
    • Ability to develop procedural manuals.
