    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Job Title: Apprentice I/II/III (AKP)

    Department: Alaska's People

    Reports To: Apprenticeship Coordinator/Assigned Department Representative

    Supervises: None

    FLSA Status: None-Exempt

    Pay Grade: N1(I/II) / N2 (III)

    Job Type: Regular, Full-Time

    General Functions:

    This is a developmental position designed to grow in depth and breadth from an Apprentice I to an Apprentice III with progressively more responsibility. CITC's Apprenticeship Program is intended to build organizational leadership capacity through holistic training, development and coaching. The main function of the Apprentice position is to obtain a paid job centered on work-based learning and progressive career development. The Apprentice will be actively engaged in training, development and mentorship. This position requires a willingness to learn, engage with CITC management and partner organizations, excellent communication, customer service skills, strong work ethic and positive attitude.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Apprentice I:

    • Embodies behavior and work ethic centered on CITC values (Respect, Interdependence, Accountability, Resilience, and Humor).
    • Provides professional, high level of customer service to all CITC staff, participants, vendors, and key stakeholders.
    • Displays an eagerness to enhance knowledge and is willing to put forth an effort to further develop their skillset.
    • Actively participates in co-designing their development, identifying SMART goals and learning objectives
    • Assists department staff with day-to-day operations, administrative duties, and special projects.
    • Attends meetings and training as appropriate to acquire knowledge and skills relevant to focus area.
    • Organizes and assists in implementing strategies for special projects.
    • Prepares project reports and progress summaries on assignments.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Apprentice II:

    • Consistently perform all duties/responsibilities of an Apprentice I with a high level of proficiency as evidenced in a performance evaluation.
    • Has completed Apprentice I required training curriculum.
    • Identifies and makes recommendations for quality improvements and process efficiencies.

    Apprentice III:

    • Consistently performs all duties/responsibilities of an Apprentice II with a high level of proficiency as evidenced in a performance evaluation.
    • Co-leads training for newly hired Apprentices and serves as an internal resource for staff.
    • Acts as a step-up supervisor in the event the supervisor is unavailable.

    Job Specifications:

    • Learn and understand CITC's mission, vision, strategic focus areas including CITC's ThriveAbility Plan and incorporate knowledge into daily activities.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information and respond effectively and sensitively to questions from staff of CITC and their partners.
    • Good interpersonal and public contact skills; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff of CITC and affiliated company employees; exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others.
    • Good organizational skills; ability to think strategically, problem solve and exercise good judgment.
    • Work independently as well as on a team and with minimal supervision.
    • Work well under pressure and prioritize workload.
    • Proficient using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Reflect a high degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • (I) Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • (II) At least 6 month of experience as an Apprentice I.
    • (III) At least 1 year of experience as an Apprentice I/II.
    • Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of state and federal background check.
    • Valid Alaska Driver's License and be insurable under CITC's automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver's license for at least three years.

    NATIVE PREFERENCE STATEMENT: Pursuant to the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act of 1975 (PL and as further guided by CITC's Native Preference Policy 6.120, CITC maintains preference in all phases of employment for Alaska Native, American Indian (AN/AI) and Native Hawaiian people, including direct lineal descendants and foster or traditionally adopted children. Also included are non-Native head of household members for Native families, which includes foster or traditionally adopted Native children.
