The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who has graduated from a NP program of graduate studies, who has acquired advanced, specialized clinical knowledge and skills to provide health care.
The NP performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, orders, conducts, supervises and interprets diagnostic and laboratory test, prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease.
The NP promotes health and the prevention of illness and injury. The NP practices autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professional to treat and manage patient health problems.The roles of the NP includes, direct patient/family care, consultation, research, patient/families/ groups/ and communities advocacy, performance improvement, and leadership & professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS
SUMMARY
The Physician Assistant under the direction of the supervising Physician, is responsible for providing age specific, culturally and ethnically sensitive clinical evaluations, problem assessments, initiation of diagnostic and treatment plans, and educates patients presenting for care.
The job also includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, leadership and professional development and other duties assigned by supervising physician, as outlined by the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners.
