- Reporting to the Director, the Charge Nurse utilizes the nursing process and organizational/leadership skills to coordinate services of staff to patients during the designated shift.
- Assures patient care is appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served. Assesses staff need for the unit, collaborates with the Staffing Coordinator, Nurse Director, and House Supervisor to ensure patients needs are met.
- Inspires enthusiasm and confidence by motivating and directing others toward a given objective.
- Develops a cohesive team ensuring maximum use of skills within the group.
- Consistently supports departmental and hospital goals as demonstrated by their actions.
- Defines responsibilities and authority limits based on the abilities of staff members, organizational needs and priorities.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage the unit in the absence of the Director/Assistant Director or designee.
- 3 years of L&D experience
- Current CA RN License, graduate of a nursing school
- Current BLS, ACLS Certifications
- Current NRP (New Grads must have within 6 months of hire)
- Must have completed a Fetal Monitoring Class within the past 2 years (New Grads must have within 6 months of hire)
- Must be willing and able to cross train for OB/GYN patients
- Previous Mother-Baby, L&D or MedSurg experience
- Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment
- Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.
- Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
- Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position
