    Our Facilities Maintenance Division is integral in maintaining our park system, placing a strong emphasis on providing excellent customer service to the public, clients and staff as well as helping to ensure public safety and enjoyment while they are at SPR facilities and parks.

    We are seeking an HVAC Technician for our HVAC Department.

    The HVAC Technician performs a wide variety of job duties which require knowledge of mechanical, Siemens insight/Desigo building management systems, digital heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air-conditioning systems, and steam and hydronic boiler heating systems.

    Work is performed on a variety of building systems, sometimes in emergency repair situations. Daily work is performed independently, and only special tasks are reviewed by the supervisor. This position is represented by Operating Engineers Local 302, District 286.


    NOTE:

    We are currently recruiting for one (1) regular, benefited position on the Day Shift between the hours of 6:00 a.m.

    to 4:30 p.m., on a 4-day, 10-hour shift.


    • Operates, maintains, repairs, or replaces chillers, heat pumps, coolers, refrigeration units, variable air volume systems, air handling units, exhaust systems, condensers, evaporators, boilers, water heating units, and cooling towers.
    • Operates, maintains, repairs, or replaces heating coils, strip heaters, base board heaters, thermostats, direct digital control systems, variable frequency control drive units, and electrical control circuits.
    • Operates, maintains, and repairs Boiler Hydronic systems, steam distribution systems, condensate return systems and associated building temperature controls.
    • Equipment examples: heat pumps, coolers, chillers, refrigeration units, air handlers, VAV systems, exhaust systems, condensers, evaporators, coils, strip heaters, boilers, thermostats, VFDs, and hot water systems.
    • Collaborate on troubleshooting and repairing Siemens building automation/management system controls.
    • Maintain documentation for services performed and shops materials used.
    • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work and jobsite spaces.
    • Responds to routine and emergency HVAC calls from facilities.
    • Monitors all HVAC systems that are operated and controlled via Siemens BA/BM system and makes adjustments as necessary.
    • Prepares and update schedules and reports. Plans preventive and corrective work on HVAC equipment; maintains a stock of parts and materials to accomplish tasks; orders parts as necessary; and maintains a history of HVAC equipment.
    • Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, schematics, for troubleshooting, project evaluations, verification of system status and planning purposes. Updates plans and drawings as necessary.
    • Troubleshoots electrical, mechanical, and HVAC related systems.
    • Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


    Requires two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of HVACR systems or two years of technical school HVACR coursework (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

    License, Certification, and Other Requirements


    • A current Washington State driver's license.
    • At point of hire, or within 90 days of hire, the following licenses must be provided: (note - the 90-day post hire option is only available on a case-by-case basis, upon review and confirmation that candidate specific gaps to meet required steps for licensing, can be achieved in 90 days or less.)
    • City of Seattle Grade III Steam Engineer's license


    This license requires at least three (3) years of employment in a position directly responsible for the operation of boilers, or educational substitution for experience that is combined with one (1) year of working experience.


    • City of Seattle Refrigeration Mechanic's License class A


    This license requires three (3) years of experience conducting refrigeration repair and installation, as an apprentice to, or as a journeyman refrigeration and/or air conditioning mechanic; or two (2) years of training in a recognized school of technology, combined with one (1) year of experience in the refrigeration trade; or two (2) years full-tine experience in the refrigeration trade and graduation from a recognized trade school of refrigeration technology.


    • EPA CFC Universal Certificate
    This certification requires to you pass each of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tests for Types Core, I, II and III

    Work Environment/Physical Demands/Other:

    • Work requires exposure to excessive noise and requires taking safety precautions around equipment.
    • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
    • Required to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods of time.
    • The work includes exposure to chemicals, dust, pollution noise and asbestos.
    • Required to work outdoors in all types of weather.
    • Frequently required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Required to work at extreme heights.
    • May work near heavy equipment.
    • May work in confined spaces.
    • Dependent on business needs, candidates may be required to obtain a respirator clearance fit test.
    A current, "FULL" driving abstract from the Department of Licensing submitted upon offer of employment. Candidates with a driving history that does not meet our current safety standards will be disqualified from consideration. Current City of Seattle Employees in a driving position may be required to submit an updated abstract.


    • Job offers are contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment physical, a review of criminal history, driving record, and reference checks.     The full salary range for this position is $ $62.01 Hourly.
