    Description
    Precision Fires Launchers requires Mechanical Engineering & Product Design support of production and/or Industrial Engineering Services programs
    Candidates must have an ME or AE Bachelor of Science degree, a minimum of two years of professional experience, have 3D CAD training and some experience (ProE/CREO preferred), be proficient at MS Office tools, be motivated, and have effective people and communication skills
    Tasks include 3D model manipulation, interacting with the engineering team, drawing preparation and release, supplier support, shop liaison, and tolerance analysis
    Some travel by air or car to suppliers and production sites may be required
    The M270A1 MLRS and M142 HIMARs launchers are the core of the US Army's premier precision fire missile artillery system evolving to support our troops over the last 20+ years
    Design engineer supporting product development, release of engineering documents, and supplier support for hardware fabrication.

    This entails development of hardware configuration item drawings and associated lists being designed, coordinated and released in the Digital Product Lifecycle Management (dPLM) tool.

    Additionally, the designer will coordinate tasks with other engineering team members, provide task status to leadership, and perform reviews of work products from the engineering team

    General Job Description:
    Designs major components, or major portions of a functional system, or technically advanced prototype, promotional or specific products.
    Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
    Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.

    Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.

    Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.
    Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products.
    Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
    Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers
    Proficiency with Windchill dPLM and CREO solid modeling software and MS Office tools is REQUIRED
    Experience with production support or supplier support preferred
