    Description

    BASIC PURPOSE: Responsible for directing the design and implementation of all onboard revenue and casino areas in association with new ship construction and refurbishment. Work with multiple architects and business partners to deliver optimal designs for operational efficiency as well as coordinating capital expenditures.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Partner with business owners and concessionaires including but not limited to Art, Casino, Giftshops, Spa, Photo, Shore Excursions, and Amusement.

    Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of newbuild projects and refurbishments, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

    Research and analyze industry trends and competitor products driving innovation into the design process.

    Manage a multidisciplinary team of project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, and vendors, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure optimal performance and project success.

    Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost-control measures, optimizing resources and expenditures while maintaining profitability and financial targets.

    Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and contractors, evaluating performance, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and specifications.

    Implement rigorous quality assurance processes and procedures to uphold safety standards, regulatory requirements, and guest satisfaction throughout the construction and refurbishment phases.

    Foster effective communication and collaboration across departments, including Operations, Technical, Design, Procurement, and Finance, to align project objectives, address challenges, and drive continuous improvement.

    Identify potential risks, issues, and obstacles related to newbuild projects and refurbishments, developing proactive mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize disruptions and ensure project resilience.

    Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to cruise ship construction, design, and refurbishment, driving innovation and process improvements to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and guest experiences.

    Travel to ships and shipyards to prepare and evaluate new and existing projects and make design recommendations.

    Perform additional job related duties as needed.

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

    EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management or a related field and/or any equivalent combination of relevant background and work

    EXPERIENCE: Minimum 10 years of experience in business environment is required. Consulting or Cruise Industry experience is highly preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Innovative thinker who can apply new concepts to new and existing ship designs. Able to manage complex multi-million-dollar projects keeping teams on time, task and budget. Knowledgeable in project management software such as Microsoft Project or Smart Sheets. Must be proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft office. Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate, inspire, and empower team members to achieve goals and deliver results. Exceptional project management capabilities, including strategic planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management, with a track record of successfully leading large-scale, complex projects from conception to completion. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, and senior executives. In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to cruise ship construction, safety, and environmental compliance. Proficiency in project management software, MS Office Suite, and other relevant tools and technologies.
