Job description
Basic Function
Responsible for providing patients with all phases of Occupational Therapy according to State Licensure.
Responsibilities
1. Evaluate incoming patient conditions to determine appropriate physical treatment programs, and
consult with referring Physicians regarding diagnosis.
2. Develop and implement Occupational Therapy treatment programs based on each patient's
particular needs.
3. Assist patients with all phases of Occupational Therapy treatment and techniques to include but not
limited to:
- ADL/IADL training - neuromuscular facilitation
- manual therapy techniques - functional mobility training
- modalities (ultrasound) w/ NJ certification - transfer training
- balance training/ fall prevention - patient/caregiver education
4. Complete documentation using electronic medical records (EMR). Execute point of service
documentation through the company EMR system.
5. Record patient conditions and responses to treatments in the EMR charts after each visit.
6. Prepare patient care/progress notes and other required forms as required.
7. Consult with referring Physicians regarding patient diagnosis and communicate changes via
progress notes.
8. Communicate with referring Physicians and Occupational Therapy Assistants regarding patient
therapy and equipment.
9. Communicate with potential referral sources to expand existing business and cultivate new business
as requested by the supervisor.
10. Communicate with Occupational Therapy Assistants to perform interim therapy evaluations to
continually modify and update treatment programs.
11. Safely operate and apply knowledge of standard Occupational Therapy equipment such as
ultrasound equipment, e-stim, TENS, etc.
12. Compose discharge notes for patients and refer to appropriate outside sources as necessary.
13. Attend continuing educational courses to maintain good licensure standing and to obtain advanced
clinicalskills as per New Jersey State Licensure.
14. Maintain current knowledge of Occupational Therapist roles and continuing trends in the industry.
15. Safely and legally operate personal automobile during business hours with attached company car
magnet.
16. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
1. lnterview and select students for internships and communicate with professors regarding
performance.
2. Supervise and educate students in procedures.
3. Supervise overall effectiveness of Occupational Therapy Assistants and students.
4. Delegate daily Occupational Therapy treatment instructions and duties such as modalities, exercise
programs and manual therapy to Occupational Therapy Assistants.
5. Communicate with Supervisor regarding staff performance and related personnel matters.

Education/Training
Degree: Bachelors Degree or higher.
Experience
Prior work-related experience preferred.
