About the Role:

We are looking for an Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality patient care. The Veterinary Assistant will assist in multiple areas of hospital operations, including:

Supporting veterinarians and technicians with exam prep, patient handling, treatments, surgeries, and other procedures
Assisting with front desk and phone operations as needed
Performing other general duties necessary for maintaining hospital function and efficiency

Regular Duties Include:

Assisting veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and surgical procedures
Handling and restraining animals of various sizes, temperaments, and strengths in a safe and confident manner
Preparing and maintaining exam rooms, surgical areas, and equipment to ensure a sterile and organized environment
Administering basic treatments and medications under supervision
Monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures as directed by the veterinary team
Cleaning and sanitizing kennels, equipment, and workspaces—cleaning is a significant part of this role
Providing exceptional client service, including:
Assisting clients in the exam rooms
Helping with check-ins and check-outs
Answering client questions and discussing basic pet care information
Handling phone inquiries professionally and efficiently

Who We're Looking For:

Experience: At least one year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant (Preferred) but we are open to training the right canidate
Animal Handling Skills: Must be able to confidently and reliably handle animals of all sizes, temperaments, and strengths
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and remain on your feet for extended periods
Team Player: Works well in a collaborative environment and supports colleagues as needed
Detail-Oriented: Maintains accurate medical records and follows protocols

Schedule & Availability:

We are looking for a candidate with a flexible schedule
Typical shifts range from 6-9 hours, with Rotating Saturdays
Late afternoon/early evening availability mandatory
Longer shifts may be scheduled on other days as business needs dictate
Must be able to remain flexible with leave times, as animal health comes first, and emergencies or ongoing work must be properly handled or transitioned before clocking out

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $ $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
