    Job Summary

    • Reporting to the Practice Manager and under the general guidance of the backup call physician, the On-Call Nurse Practitioner will cover primary weekend call for Emerson's employed Internal Medicine practices. The On-Call Nurse Practitioner will perform a variety of duties during weekend call hours, while adhering to standard practices and established procedures. The On-Call Nurse Practitioner should manage the vast majority of weekend calls, to include fulfilling prescription refill requests and reviewing critical lab results. When appropriate, the On-Call Nurse Practitioner should bill for telemedicine visits. In addition to the on-call nurse practitioner position, there will be a Primary Care Physician on call for situations that need physician consultation and escalation. The weekend call shift generally begins at 4:30PM each Friday to 8:00AM Monday.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Education
      • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (ARPN) Completion of a Masters' Degree or Doctoral Degree
    • Experience
      • 3+ years' experience in primary care/family medicine.
    • Licensure and/or Certification
      • Current license as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
      • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner required (ARNP) with recertification every six years as required
      • DEA license
      • BLS healthcare provider required.
      • Must be able to attain and maintain privileges at Emerson Hospital as Nurse Practitioner
    • Skills
      • General EMR familiarity required.

      • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team, in collaborative settings, required.
      • Strong interpersonal communication skills, on the phone and in person
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
