    Job Description:

    GRU's Customer Operations Department is looking for an Intern to work in the Revenue Assurance division. The ideal intern will have a background in Business, Finance or Legal fields and have the flexibility and willingness to tackle any assignment.

    To be considered for this paid internship, candidate must be a current and enrolled student attending an accredited college and possess at least a 2.0 GPA. Student must be pursuing a degree in the Business, Finance or Legal fields.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • A student in the sophomore level or above
    • Have relevant work experience in Business, Finance or Legal fields
    • Have previous experience as an intern or in a co-op program
    • Microsoft Office experience, specifically Excel and Word expertise
    • Business, Finance or Legal knowledge
    • SAP experience preferred
    • Excellent letter writing skills, including grammar and punctuation
    • Excellent verbal communication skills
    • Excellent organizational skills

    Summary of the roles and responsibilities of a Revenue Assurance Intern:

    • Assist in processing Bankruptcy accounts
    • Assist in researching delinquent closed accounts to locate customer responsible for payment
    • Prepare letters to customers, requesting payment of debts
    • Assist in monitoring payment arrangements for unpaid balances
    • Assist in monitoring unmetered accounts and contacting customers for payment
    • Assist in researching customer disputes received through our collection agency
    • Assist in preparing accounts for collection/suit, including research and preparation of documents
    • Assist with filing claims against Surety Bonds for unpaid balances on closed accounts
    • Assist with fraud investigations by researching account history and other records to determine responsible party
    • Assist in monitoring daily referrals and payments for unpaid accounts sent to collection agency
    • Review returned payments to determine if further collection action is needed
    • Other tasks as identified to assist in the prevention of losses and collection of monies owed to the utility

    Please Note:

    • Student must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week. Preferably 12-20 hours a week in (3-8 hour) blocks of time.
    • Student must be available to work at least a minimum of two consecutive semesters. One (1) year is preferred.
