    The Application Engineering role offers an opportunity to join an exciting and highly motivated team, implementing cutting-edge technology on ASIC Design Verification including Formal property checking, Simulation, Metric-driven Verification sign-off, and AI/ML automation.

    Enabling customers to use Cadence tools to verify IP and SoC designs in areas such as IOT, Automotive, Advanced CPU and communications at advanced technology nodes.

    The role will be based in the Cambridge area with hybrid working from home, the Cadence office and customer sites as necessary.

    Responsibilities
    Support customers at the leading edge of functional verification using Cadence tools.
    Proactive visits to customer sites, mainly in the UK and Ireland but occasionally across Europe, to develop and maintain relationships
    Deliver customer training classes and technical update presentations
    Develop skills/knowledge to become a product specialist, able to provide expert consultancy and work directly on customer verification projects
    Working independently, but collaborating with the other AEs and wider Cadence community to solve problems, define methodologies and deliver results
    Liaise directly with sales team to identify opportunities to proliferate Cadence products
    Communicate customer requirements and feedback from support engagements to the Engineering and Marketing organizations for product direction / improvements
    Deliver technical presentations to all levels within an organization

    Candidate requirements:

    Education:
    BEng in electronic engineering or equivalent
    At least 1-2 years of relevant industry experience
    Experience in SystemVerilog or VHDL Hardware Description Languages
    Experience in ASIC functional verification tools and flows
    Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written


    Languages:
    fluent in English

    Problem solving skills, knowing when to ask for assistance
    Team orientation, self-starter, good judgement under pressure
    Prepared to travel and work at customer sites throughout Europe

    Additional qualities that an ideal candidate would possess:
    Experience with Cadence verification tools (Jasper, Xcelium, Verisium)
    Experience with SystemVerilog Assertions in Formal analysis
    Previous customer-facing roles (technical support or delivering training)
    Programming and scripting language experience (Tcl, Python preferred)
    Linux experience (Bash/C-Shell, and common POSIX utilities such as sed / awk / grep)
    Familiarity with source code management such as Git / Mercurial / Perforce
