    This position is responsible for the design of electronic, electrical, electromagnetic, magnetic and electromechanical subsystems and products.

    Through innovation, efficiency and principled design practices, this position works as a member of the engineering team to create products to fulfill market driven needs.

    Essential Functions

    Work with the internal Engineering team, as well as vendors and customers to research and develop electronic and electrical subsystems and products for industrial and commercial applications
    Conduct research and analyze data and specifications to evaluate the feasibility, design, operation, performance, cost and requirements of new product designs
    Plan, develop, test, and implement control system code and schematics

    Select and program various control systems such as Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine interfaces (HMIs), etc.

    Perform in-house system tests to ensure software and automation is effective and reliable
    Develop panel and wiring design on new and existing products
    Create and provide training to users on system interfacing and troubleshooting
    Refine system automation and software solutions based on research, field data, and stakeholder input
    Prepare, review and revise documents related to product designs, revisions and production procedures
    Assure product quality by developing inspection and test protocols
    Maintain product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations
    Identify and follow workplace and product safety requirements and procedures
    Other duties as assigned by management

    Competencies

    Experience using Microsoft Office Applications for managing and documenting projects
    Experience with Autodesk Inventor for simple 3D design for 3D printing and handoff to mechanical team
    Experience developing and implementing control systems and schematics
    Experience modifying embedded firmware in C or C++ to improve or optimize performance of a system
    Knowledge of basic electrical components and how to combine them to create a desired function
    Familiar with basic electrical circuit principles and operation

    Experience with basic electronic instruments:
    multimeter, oscilloscope, and magnetometer
    Understanding/Experience with KiCad (or EAGLE, OrCAD, Altium, etc.) to modify printed PCB designs
    Ability to use/learn Manufacturing Resources Planning for item definition and bill of material entry
    Ability to read and interpret data sheets to match best available parts to new product requirements
    Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others
    Ability to use "critical thinking" in solving problems
    Ability to use active listening when communicating with others
    Outstanding written and oral communication skills
    Must be a team player, self-motivated, dependable and dedicated

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment, a manufacturing floor, and an engineering lab.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to walk or stand.

    The employee is occasionally required to bend, twist or reach as well as lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision preferred and the ability to adjust focus between multiple tasks.

    40 hours per week, must be available 8 A.M.-5 P.M., Monday-Friday

    Required Education and Experience

    Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent degree with at least two years experience

    Preferred Education and Experience

    Advanced Engineering degree and/or 2+ years experience in electronic design
