Job Description Summary
DEFINITION
Under general supervision of an assigned manager the Monarch Dream Center Program Coordinator will be responsible for the program's operations at any of the San Luis Obispo Community College District sites, external partners, as well as participation in outreach activities.
Essential functions are creating a welcoming and supportive environment for Undocumented students and their families.This position supports students to achieve their academic, personal, and career goals; coordinates case management and outreach; assists students to ensure they receive direct support and available resources; and assists in developing and recommending changes to practices and procedures.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Incumbents in this position support the Guided Pathways framework, student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness by coordinating activities and creating support for students throughout the District.
The incumbent will work as a part of a team and ensure all aspects of outreach and the provisions of services to students are aligned with the strategic outreach goals outlined by the District.

Essential Functions & Qualifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coordinate the day-to-day office operation, program activities, and administrative functions offered through the program;
Demonstrate sensitivity to the unique needs of Undocumented students and their families and ability to work with a broad spectrum of students including students from disproportionately impacted student groups;
Value and intentionally promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; Coordinate and provide one-on-one support in a confidential manner to prospective and current Undocumented students including campus referrals and other services; Provide a case management approach to determine if additional support or resources are needed and intervene as necessary to connect students with specific staff, faculty, or departments to ensure academic success, and continued enrollment;
Design and coordinate events and activities such as workshops; forums; speaker series; and holistic onboarding for Undocumented students;
Provide trainings, workshops, and presentations to faculty and staff on supports, resources, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to Undocumented students and residency;
Create an effective outreach and communication linkage with students and their families, community-based partners, and local K-12 schools, colleges and universities.
Plan, coordinate, and implement outreach events, forums, and services for students Provide assistance in the interpretation of District, state, and federal policies and laws pertaining to Undocumented students and residency; Work with Marketing to develop and maintain web pages, student email listserv, outreach materials, and social media account.

Assist with researching, developing, and maintaining programmatic relevance related to trends and shifts in student demographics; gathering data; preparing and submitting reports; maintaining databases; maintaining documentation of projects; and assessment of services provided; Apply policies, procedures, and practices of the College with sound judgment; Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action without immediate supervisor; and Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Required
Associate Degree;
One-year of demonstrated, progressive, and substantial professional experience and/or direct community involvement. Bilingual English & Spanish (oral and written)
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree; Two years' experience in outreach, program development, and/or working with Undocumented students in a higher education setting; Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations related to undocumented students and residency;
Familiarity with California Community College residency and AB 540 regulations and requirements
Knowledge of:
knowledge of the services and resources available to Undocumented students, and experience developing partnerships and cultivating collaborative working relationships with internal and external constituencies including local, state, and national organizations focused on serving undocumented and immigrant groups; Policies, objectives and outcomes of assigned programs and activities; Current technologies, personal computer, and associated office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and/or database software; Correct usage of English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; and District policies and procedures; Current and historical legislation, news, and cultural issues related to undocumented communities; Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a high level of diplomacy and professionalism;
Policy, social, and interdisciplinary issues affecting multicultural communities;
Social identities such as race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religion, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin/immigration status, age, and/or ability;
Effective interpersonal communication skills using tact, patience, and courtesy;
Strong organizational skills and ability to follow schedules and meet deadlines;
Strategies to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties; and Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of staff and students with physical and learning disabilities.
Physical ability to:
Read and comprehend printed matter and text and data on computer monitors; Communicate intelligibly and effectively via speech, telephone, written correspondence, and/or email; Sit or stand for extended periods of time; Lift and/or carry 25 pounds; and Exert manual dexterity sufficient for keyboard and other office equipment operation.

SALARY SCHEDULE

Per Cuesta College's bargaining agreement, new employees are placed at Steps A through C, which is the anticipated hiring range also listed below.

Employees who work half-time or more are entitled to receive fringe benefits. The fringe allocation is money from the District to help cover the cost of insurance. Employees working half-time or more are eligible to participate in the District's medical, dental and vision insurance.

Employees with a work assignment of 50% to 74% of full time will receive one-half of the above stated fringe allocation.
