    NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue is America's oldest public hospital, established in 1736.     Job Description

    Work under direct supervision to perform and report various Clinical Chemistry on patient body fluids. Responsible for performing and assessing clinical laboratory test on specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in a timely manner. Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of Duties.

    Job responsibilities

    • Processing of Chemistry specimen from pre- to post-analytical phase.

    • Prepares specimens to be tested; Performs manual an automated test on blood, urine and body fluids according to established laboratory procedures.

    • Analyzes and interprets, and reports test results.

    • Monitors testing equipment, solutions and work environment by following laboratory Quality Control procedure, ensuring the overall reliability of test results.

    • Assist with Inventory management.

    • Efficiency in adapting to changes in order to facilitate adequate staffing and effective demonstration in identifying and actin on priorities in a timely manner.

    • Participates in in-services, continuing education courses and complete12 CE credits per year.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications
    1. VaIid certification as a clinical laboratory technician issued by the NYSED.

    Special Note:
    1. Successful completion of an appropriate training program for phlebotomy (satisfactory to the laboratory director) must be completed prior to an individual performing such work.
